Have you ever wanted to raise poultry, but weren’t sure where to start? Do you wonder what it takes to raise chickens or ducks? If so, then this class is for you! Join Conner Prairie’s Ag Staff as we discuss everything you need to know about raising a small flock of poultry. This interactive class will provide participants with hands-on experience working with Conner Prairie’s friendly flock, while covering topics such as handling, housing, egg science, and nutrition.
This class is for individuals ages 14+. Anyone under the age of 16 must register with an adult.

This class will be led by members of our Agriculture Staff. Combined, this team has over 50 years of experience caring for ducks, turkeys, chickens, and even peafowl using low-stress livestock handling methods. Their expertise encompasses breeding and hatching, routine veterinary care, nutrition, housing, handling, and pasturing both modern and historic breeds of poultry in both backyard and larger-scale settings. The Ag Team is passionate about raising high quality, healthy birds and they are excited to share their experiences with you!
