Carved wooden bowls, ladles, and other vessels were common to early households and are still useful in today’s design. In this beginner-friendly class, students will learn to carve and shape a decorative bowl using a variety of hand tools, including gouges, draw knives, and chisels.
In addition to the hands-on portion of the class, design and layout will be discussed, along with considerations of carving bowls from dry and green wood. Finishing the bowls will also be discussed. All tools and materials are provided.
This class is for individuals ages 16+.
Saturday, August 23: 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
