On the face of it, baking biscuits and churning butter both seem pretty simple but there’s a lot going on there. Starting with cream, we’ll end up with butter and buttermilk and use that butter to make biscuits. Along the way we’ll look at some of the science involved in this transformation of the cream and some secrets to light, fluffy biscuits.
You’ll go away a belly full of buttered biscuits, a folder with recipes on how the repeat the process at home and the experience of having done some very basic cooking in one of Conner Prairie’s kitchens. If you don’t eat them all, there might even be some biscuits to take home.
This class is designed to be completed in pairs—perfect for a parent and child, grandparent and grandchild, or any adult and young chef team. Each pair will work together throughout the experience, sharing in every step of the process. Please note that children must be accompanied by an adult participant.
